Road construction
CFF fibre products - must have for stable asphalt roads
The future in asphalt road construction will focus on construction methods that are resistant to rutting, deformation and wear and tear and that provide the best traffic safety conditions. These high claims result from the increasing traffic load on our roads specifically in the higher load classes BK100, BK32 and BK10 (cf. RStO 12 and RDO Asphalt 09).
CFF produces cellulose fibres and offers just the right product for stabilisation of bitumen rich and highly stable asphalt mixtures:
- TOPCEL® - cellulose fibre pellets
- TOPCEL® G - cellulose fibre granulate
- TOPCEL® add - multi-component pellets
Asphalt is an economic and easy-to-process construction material comprising of a mixture of filler, fine and coarse stone aggregates and bitumen binder. Durable, deformation-resistant and functional asphalt wearing courses with self-supporting, coarse-stone split framework with increased bitumen share, such as stone mastic asphalt (SMA) and porous asphalt (PA), have become particularly established. CFF cellulose fibres are necessary as stabilising additives to act as binder carriers. Securely prevent draining of the higher bitumen content of the mineral mix, specifically during storage, transport and installation of the asphalt.
Asphalt wearing courses must demonstrate different properties such as resilience to deformation, good skid resistance, smoothness, noise reduction or drainage capacity.
Typical areas of application for bitumen rich and
highly stable asphalt surface courses are:
- Motorways and interstates
- Crossing and bus stop areas
- Airports (flight operation surfaces)
- Ports, logistics and industrial areas
- Race tracks
- Water management/deposit construction
